The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has urged its members “not to report to work on tomorrow, Monday,” July 15, 2014, until further notice.

According to the NEC of JUSAG, Organised Labour, the mother body of all labour unions is expected to meet tomorrow, Monday, July 15 to consider information that has come to its attention through the media on SSNIT’s cancellation of 60% sale of its hotels to Rock City.

On Friday, July 12, the NEC of JUSAG through the President of JUSAG, Samuel Afotey Otu, directed all staff not to report to work from Monday, July 15 to comply with Organised Labour’s decision for all workers not go to work until SSNIT publicly announced the termination of the hotels sale processes.

Following the declaration by Organised Labour and subsequent directives from the individual unions to back their mother union, the deal has been canceled per statements from SSNIT and Rock City.

However, in the latest update to the staff of the service on Sunday, July 14, 2024, signed by the General Secretary of JUSAG, Abdulai Yakubu, said “the planned strike continuous.”

“Until a new decision is reached and communicated by Organized Labour, the planned strike continuous. Therefore, no staff is to report to work tomorrow (Monday),” Mr Yakubu Abdulai, the General Secretary urges members.

What this means is that, despite both Rock City and SSNIT issuing public statements on the withdrawal of interest and cancellation of the deal respectively, activities at various public institutions would stall on Monday.

And justice delivery as per the latest update from the NEC of JUSAG would be impeded at least for Monday, July 15.

Below is JUSAG’s full update to staff

JUSAG: Update #2 On Organized Labour Strike Over SSNIT Sale of Hotels

Good Afternoon Dear Staff of the Judicial Service.

1️. Last Friday, 12th July 2024, we met as Organized Labour to announce our intention to declare nationwide strike over SSNIT plans to sell 60% of SSNIT Stake in Hotels.

2️. The planned strike is scheduled to commence Monday, 15th July 2024 and no staff is expected to report to work on Monday.

3. It has come to our information through the media that SSNIT has terminated the sale as demanded. However, Organised Labour will meet tomorrow, Monday, 15th July 2024 to consider the new development and the way forward.

4️. Until a new decision is reached and communicated by Organized Labour, the planned strike continuous. Therefore, no staff is to report to work tomorrow (Monday).

5️. Leadership of JUSAG will communicate to members after our meeting tomorrow.

6. The National President of JUSAG, Mr. Samuel Afotey Otu and the executive council will continue to uphold decisions that are in the best interest of staff.

Thank you for your cooperation.
