Leading communicator for Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu has stated that the United States of America has rejected a “driver’s mate.”
He made this statement during an interview with Kweku Ofosu Afrah Harrison on the Kasapa FM Morning Show, Ghana Kasa, in reference to the ongoing issues within the Ghana Freedom Party.
The party has been in the news following calls for it to withdraw from the presidential race in the December elections after the death of its founder and leader, the late Madam Akua Donkor.
There have also been discussions surrounding the coalition of election results in the United States, following the elections held on November 5th, in which former President Donald Trump appears to be leading the polls ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris, his main contender.
Commenting on the issues within the Ghana Freedom Party, Solomon Owusu noted that no serious nation would accept the candidacy of the late Akua Donkor.
However, he explained that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) used her for their agenda at the IPAC meetings, which is why the Electoral Commission (EC) allowed her candidacy.
Mr. Owusu added that now that she is no longer with us, some people are trying to manipulate the situation to change positions on the ballot paper.
“Why do you want to win elections by changing positions on the ballot paper? If you believe you have performed, sell your message to the people. With the current bad governance by the NPP government, what makes you think changing positions on the ballot paper will even allow you to get 13% in the elections?” he asked.
“This is the same thing happening in the USA—the United States has rejected that ‘driver’s mate,'” he added.
He further remarked that Vice President Kamala Harris was employing the same campaign strategy as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, claiming that she was just a “driver’s mate” when it comes to government decision-making.
According to Solomon Owusu, the American voters told Kamala Harris that if she was just a “driver’s mate,” she should go home and forget about the White House.
