Penang, Malaysia, 15 September 2025 – More than 500 distributors from Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) joined 10,000 global entrepreneurs at QNET’s V-Malaysia 2025 convention, marking the company’s 27th anniversary in Penang, Malaysia. The strong African participation highlighted the region’s growing importance in global direct selling.
Delegates represented countries including Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Senegal, and Guinea, making this one of the largest African delegations in the history of V-Malaysia. Their presence underscored how Africa’s young and entrepreneurial population is increasingly shaping the future of the direct selling.
The five-day convention has two aspects to it — QNET Carnival, the product showcase of the company’s popular wellness and lifestyle products, and the Training and Education, which focuses on business building, ethics, personal growth, and more.
The QNET Carnival was officially opened on the afternoon of Sep 13 by several prominent guests, including Nathan Kwabena Adisi (popularly known as Bola Ray), CEO of the Ghanaian media conglomerate EIB Network. Later that evening, the event opened with a colourful ceremony of cultural performances and cake cutting to mark QNETs 27th anniversary.
“As we celebrate 27 years of QNET, we are proud to see Sub-Saharan Africa represented at this convention by more than 500 distributors,” said Trevor Kuna, Chief Marketing Officer of QNET. “Africa is the new frontier for direct selling with its large youth population and dynamic entrepreneurial culture. Their dedication reflects both their ambition and the enormous potential of the region as a rising force in global direct selling.”
The global direct selling industry today counts more than 102.9 million independent distributors, generating US$167.6 billion in retail sales in 2023. Due to its rapid economic expansion, demographic growth, and increasing consumer demand, the African continent is seen as one of the most promising growth frontiers for the industry.
Direct selling is also among the most inclusive entrepreneurial models worldwide, with around 70% of participants being women. In Africa, where women and youth are leading new businesses, QNET aims to further expand training and mentorship to help more entrepreneurs succeed.
