Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Madina is a known “galamseyer” with over fifteen pits on water bodies despite protests against illegal mining.
Speaking on Starr chat with Bola Ray, the Madina MP scored the government’s human rights record as weak.
“In terms of upholding the rights of people, the government has failed. Look at what happened with the occupied Julobi protesters. In recent times, look at what is happening to the Galamsey protestors.”
He also alleged that a parliamentary candidate of the NPP from the Madina constituency, Robert Lamptey is involved in illegal mining activities with over 15 pits on water bodies.
“He is known with over 15 pits. Well, it’s not an allegation. It’s a reality,” he asserted.
Adding that “He’s the second majority shareholder in the Black Mining Company. And they have concessions on the river body.”
Kojo Sosu emphasised on his claims using his achievements and his integrity.
“The evidence is available. I mean, where I’ve reached now in Parliament, serving on the Human Rights Committee, chairman of the Prime Member’s Bill Committee, a member of the Judiciary Committee, I can place my integrity on the table here to let you know that,” he said.

The Ghana Police Service announced the arrest of 42 demonstrators from the Democracy Hub protest, which erupted into violent clashes at the 37 Intersection in Accra on Sunday, 22nd September 2024.
After the protestors were bailed, some revealed to the media the harsh reality in police cells, describing the living conditions in the police cell as ‘inhumane’.
The harsh conditions included a lack of food provision, overcrowded cells, and inmates’ lack of comfortable sleeping arrangements.
