VIDEO: My removal as chief whip lifted huge burden off me – Muntaka

Former Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka says he has no bitterness towards his party despite his expulsion as Minority Chief Whip in parliament.

Mr. Muntaka was replaced with Governs Kwame Agbodza, MP for Adaklu, as the minority chief whip in January 2023, following a reshuffle by the national leadership of the National Democratic Congress.

He alleged that the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) purposely changed him to take him off parliament, describing the manner in which he was changed as disrespectful.

Speaking in an interview on GHone TV, the former minority chief whip acknowledged the certainty of his change.

“The very day we entered those offices, we knew that there would be a day that we’d be walking out of them.”

He further firmly denied any resentment of bitterness after his removal explaining that he is at peace and the burden has been carried off his shoulders.

“Believe me, God is my witness. I’m at complete peace with myself. Sometimes you don’t know the kind of burden that you are carrying until you put it off.” He said

“Sometimes it’s good to also observe from afar and see how things are. Nevertheless, it was an opportunity.” He added

However, he pointed out his ongoing commitment to supporting fellow MPs to retain their seats in the coming elections and working towards the betterment of his constituency, mentioning his efforts in Wenchi, Salaga, and other areas.
