Former President John Dramani Mahama has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of employing deceptive tactics to win power, citing the “One District, One Factory” initiative as a prime example of false promises.
Speaking at a campaign rally, at Teacher Mante, Ayensuano Constituency, Mahama characterized the initiative as a blatant lie intended to secure votes rather than deliver tangible development.
“All the promises; One District, One Factory, One million dollars per constituency was a lie. They were looking to secure power,” Mahama declared, directly accusing the NPP of using false promises to manipulate voters
While addressing concerns about the state of Ghana’s infrastructure, Mahama also criticized the NPP’s handling of the nation’s railway system.
He highlighted the deterioration of the Accra-Nsawam rail line as evidence of the government’s negligence and mismanagement.
“I just returned from Nsawam-Adoagyiri, and it is clear that under the NPP’s government, the railway system has completely collapsed,” Mahama stated, drawing a stark contrast to the operational efficiency of the line during the NDC’s tenure.
He went further, alleging that the NPP is actively dismantling railway infrastructure for personal gain.
“They have started removing and selling the railway lines. This is a clear example of how the NPP has used power to enrich themselves at the expense of the country,” Mahama alleged.
Mahama’s criticisms extend beyond specific policies, highlighting a broader pattern of alleged mismanagement and prioritizing personal gain over the needs of the nation.
“The NPP has caused a lot of destruction, and it’s time for that to end,” Mahama declared.
He urged Ghanaians to reject the NPP and choose a government that prioritizes accountability and the welfare of its citizens.
