VIDEO: Yaa Naa is voting for Mahama- Basintale

Deputy National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale has issued a sharp rebuke of NPP running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo), following his controversial statement suggesting that Muslims voting for the NDC is religiously forbidden (haram).

Basintale’s response highlighted the NDC’s development record in the Dagbon area, particularly in Tamale, while criticizing Napo’s broken promises.

In a strongly worded statement responding to Napo’s comments, Basintale emphasized the significant infrastructural developments undertaken by the NDC in the region, including the construction of the Tamale International Airport, the development of the Eastern Corridor road, and the expansion of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

He highlighted the knowledge of these accomplishments within the Dagbon community, referencing the Dagbon Paramount Chief, Yaa Naa Abukari II.

“Yaa Naa is aware it was the NDC who built the Tamale International Airport, he is aware it was the NDC that crafted the Eastern Corridor, he is aware it was the NDC who expanded the Tamale Teaching Hospital,” Basintale stated.

However, Basintale contrasted this positive record with what he described as unfulfilled promises by Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s vice presidential candidate. He focused on promises made to the people of Yendi, specifically the failure to deliver on pledges for an agricultural university, improved water infrastructure, and an airstrip.

“But what Yaa Naa also knows is that it was Bawumia who promised an Agri University in Yendi and didn’t bring it; it was Bawumia who promised the people of Yendi water and didn’t give it; it was Bawumia who promised the people of Yendi an airstrip and didn’t deliver on the promise,” Basintale asserted.

Basintale used a proverb to conclude his response, expressing confidence in the Dagbon community’s electoral decision in favor of Mahama.

“If you come to a chief’s palace, you don’t look at the chief’s face and curse the chief”.

Because I am here to tell Napo that if he doesn’t know, Ya-Na is voting for John Mahama,” he declared.

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh who is the vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Patty (NPP) few weeks ago made a controversial statement during a campaign trail in the northern part of Ghana.
His comment sticks to the Muslim community as commiting sin (Haram) if they vote for John Mahama and the NDC.
