Spokesperson of the Ghana Football Association , Henry Asante Twum has hit back at critics suggesting that the FA’s decision to appoint Otto Addo to take charge of Ghana’s games against Nigeria has been vindicated amidst Ghana’s qualification to their fourth world cup.
Otto Addo was named as an interim coach to spearhead the Black Stars in their matches against Nigeria to ensure qualification. However, the decision attracted huge uproar among fans who believed he was inexperienced to manage the Black Stars of Ghana.
But according to Henry, Otto Addo’s tactical prowess together with the entire technical team has refuted all the criticism.
“We’ve always believed in the competence of Otto Addo. I remember when the executive council took their decision to put him in an interim capacity, it came with loads of criticisms and backlash but today the exco is vindicated.
“They stuck to their gun. They did not allow the court of public opinion to change their decision. We also brought in Chris Hughton to bring on board his experience and we feel very proud that the policies, the plans that were in place has finally yielded dividends and today we are one of the 32 nations that will play at the next FIFA World cup in Qatar.” He told GHOne TV.
The FA is however, yet to confirm if the technical team will be maintained ahead of the upcoming AFCON 2023 qualifiers in June 2022 and the Mundial in November.
