As part of efforts to improve the Water and Sanitation situation of deprived remote communities, World Vision Ghana has commissioned a 30,000 dollar mechanized water system for the people of Odumase in the Nkwanta South District of the Oti Region.
The Facility is projected to benefit the population of over 4,000 residents living in the Odumase Community and prevent the reliance of the community on unsafe drinking water and further save school children the time of commuting long distances in search of water.
Mr. Baafour Otu-Boateng, the chairman of the World Vision Ghana board in his address at the commissioning stressed the importance of portable drinking water to the health, education, and living abilities of Children, recounting how a 15-year-old Justin had to commute several kilometers for unclean water.
“When children do not have access to clean water, it affects their health, nutrition, education, and learning abilities, thus impacting many aspects of their lives. However, commissioning this mechanized water system today, World Vision Ghana has restored hope for better futures for the over 4,600 people, including girls and boys, of Odumase community. Children like Justine can now learn better and become what they aspire to be in the future”.
The Municipal Chief Executive of the Nkwanta South Municipality, Bright Lenway expressed his appreciation to World Vision Ghana for their contribution to the development of the District and their contribution to the lives of children in the community of Odumasi. He further urged the community to ensure that the water system is well maintained to the benefit of the residents.
