World Vision Ghana and VisionFund Ghana have dismissed allegations of engaging in a fraudulent loan scheme operating under the name “World Vision Foundation Loan.”
In a statement dated Friday, June 27, the organisations warned Ghanaians against it, emphasising that they have no connection to the scheme.
They described the action as a scam that is exploiting unsuspecting individuals through satellite TV, social media, and other platforms.
A portion of the statement noted, “We wish to make it clear that World Vision Ghana does not offer loans of any kind and does not charge any fees for its services. The only legitimate financial institution affiliated with World Vision in Ghana is VisionFund Ghana, who also do not charge upfront fees for their service..”
The fraudulent scheme has deceived members of the public into transferring money under false pretences, leveraging the trusted reputation of World Vision.
In response, World Vision Ghana and VisionFund Ghana have launched a nationwide public education campaign dubbed “Our Identity; Our Integrity” to raise awareness and prevent further fraud.
The public, among other directives, has been urged to verify all loan offers through official VisionFund Ghana platforms and hotlines and never send money in advance for loans.
The organisations have stated that the matter has been reported to law enforcement for investigation and appropriate action.
“We have referred the matter to law enforcement. Formal notices are also being issued to television channels and media platforms that have unknowingly aired the misleading advertisements urging them to cease broadcasting such content and to support efforts to protect the public from further.”
