The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Lecturers Caucus at the University of Ghana has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice President-elect Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on their landslide victory in the 2024 elections.
The Caucus expressed its happiness and support for the next NDC governance, believing Mahama will restore Ghana’s economic stability, which they claim has been mismanaged by the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
In a statement, the Caucus praised Mahama’s commitment to educational reform, technological advancement, and research development.
They stressed his administration’s focus on strengthening the linkages between academia and industry, enhancing research funding and infrastructure, and improving conditions of service for academic staff.
The Caucus also acknowledged Mahama’s plans to expand access to quality tertiary education, promote STEM education and digital literacy, and support international academic collaborations.
They celebrated Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s election as Vice President-elect, acknowledging her distinguished academic career and public service record. They expressed confidence in her ability to bridge academic excellence and public service.
The Caucus further congratulated all newly elected Members of Parliament, looking forward to constructive engagement with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education to advance higher education in Ghana.
