Two branches of ASA Savings and Loans company at Odorkor and Amanfro have offered scholarship package to some 20 brilliants but needy students in the areas.
The gesture worth GHc10,000 is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility in reaching out to the communities within which they operate.
The Junior Divisional Manager, Joseph Kweku Annan who presented the cheque to the beneficiaries explained that each student was benefiting from GHc500 in order to help ease the financial burden on their parents.
Mr. Joseph stated each of the two branches was supporting 10 students and that it is their responsibility to give back to society and not fixated on making a profit.
“I am so excited ASA has been able to support me to pay my ward’s school fees. I have been saving with ASA for a decade and I am grateful for all they have done for me,” Madam Vivian Aryee, a trader whose ward benefit from the package noted.
Elated form 2 Junior High School student Johnson Kwabena who benefited from the package said “I felt very happy when my mother informed me about the scholarship’ I am grateful to ASA and I will not let my parents down. I will learn and make my mother and family proud “.
The annual exercise which is aimed at reaching out to these brilliant but needy students is being replicated across all branches in Accra.
