A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, Theophilus Dzimega Jnr. Esq., has expressed strong confidence that the NDC will defeat former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 general elections, regardless of the candidate the party presents.
Speaking on GHToday with Joshua Kodjo Mensah on GHOne TV on Tuesday, February 3, Dzimega Jnr. stated that the governing party is well-positioned to win against Dr. Bawumia.
“Anybody, including me, that the NDC will bring against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NDC will win,” he said, while cautioning against triumphalism. According to him, the party’s posture remains guided by humility rather than arrogance.
Dzimega Jnr. pointed to what he described as the modest and restrained approach of the current NDC-led government as evidence of this attitude, noting that its conduct has so far demonstrated meekness and humility.
He questioned what new message the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, could present to Ghanaians ahead of the 2028 polls, especially if current economic and governance conditions remain unchanged.
“I wonder what message Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is bringing,” he remarked.

According to Dzimega Jnr., if macroeconomic and microeconomic stability continues, inflation remains low, fuel prices are stable, government delivers on its promises, and no major scandals emerge, the outcome of the 2028 elections would mirror what occurred in 2024.
“If the situation continues this way – macro stability is good, micro is good, inflation is down, fuel prices are maintained, delivery on all the promises, no scandal – I don’t see anything happening different from what happened in 2024,” he added.
His comments come amid ongoing political debate over the NPP’s choice of flagbearer and the broader contest shaping up ahead of the 2028 general elections.
