The Best Bank in Competitive Pricing for 2016, Bank of Baroda Ghana Limited, has officially opened its third branch at Ahodwo in Kumasi.
The bank which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda (India’s International Bank) started operations in Ghana on February 14, 2008 in Accra and four years later opened its Tema branch.
With its unique banking products and services such as the Baroda Monthly Savings Scheme, Fixed Deposits, Premium Current Account, Trade and Export Finance, Overdrafts and many others, the bank hopes to capture a significant portion of the market in the Garden City.
Speaking at the inauguration of the bank on Monday, the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. R. Mohan mentioned that the bank will use the latest technology to bring convenience to its new and existing customers.
He added that the bank believes in supporting women entrepreneurs and has introduced the Women Entrepreneurs Loan facility.
The Bank of Baroda has an impressive presence with more than 5,400 branches in India, 124 overseas branches in over 25 countries.
The Bank of Ghana has expressed satisfaction with the operations of the Bank of Baroda, Ghana describing them as compliant. According to the Head of Supervision of other financial institutions at the Central Bank, Raymond Amanfu, Bank of Baroda has shown a great deal of discipline since it started operations in 2008 and has had no brushes with the regulator; an attitude he hoped others will emulate.
The inauguration of Bank of Baroda in Kumasi was well attended by dignitaries including the Indian High Commissioner of Ghana, Mr. Birender Singhyadav, Otumfuo’s representative, Nana Poku Kwaku Ababio, officials of the Bank of Baroda, Head of Supervision of other financial institutions at the Bank of Ghana, Raymond Amanfu, members of the Indian community in Ghana and many others.
