Hundreds of unemployed polytechnic graduates will hit the streets of Accra today, September 5, 2017.

The graduates are demanding the inauguration of councils for the various technical universities to enable them have their certificates for jobs.

They are also accusing government of paying lip service to technical education. Convener for the demonstration Kumah Brown told Starr News that they have appealed to government on so many occasions and nothing has been done about their situation.

“Government has reconstituted governing councils for universities and others and they are not doing same for us. We have appealed on so many occasions but the situation is still the same and we feel we have been marginalized which is not fair.

“We cannot apply for jobs because we don’t have certificates, we cannot upgrade by going to school again to do other courses because our transcripts have not been certified to be accepted by whatever institution we apply to.”

Today’s protest is expected to pile pressure on government to reconstitute all governing councils of the technical universities and polytechnics in the country.
