The Managing Director of the Bulk Oil and Storage Transport (BOST) Alfred Obeng Boateng has been sacked by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
A letter signed by Secretary to the President, Asante Bediatuo said Mr. Obeng’s dismissal is “part of restructuring of Parastatal companies and agencies, the president has decided to terminate the appointment of Mr. Alfred Obeng as the Managing Director of BOST and to appoint Mr. George Mensah Okley as the New MD.”
Mr. Obeng last year came under intense pressure to resign following the exposé that BOST had sold 5 million liters of contaminated fuel to two unlicensed companies, Zup Oil and Movenpiina Oil.
But he was cleared by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and National Security of any wrongdoing in the sale of the contaminated fuel to Movenpiina after a probe.
His dismissal comes moments after the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority Gifty Klenam and the managing director of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Paul Ansah were sacked by the President.
More CEOs are likely to be sacked in the coming days according to Starrfmonline.com sources. The Akufo-Addo government is afflicted with persistent clashes between CEOs and board members.
Last month, CEO of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company Frances Essiam was engaged in an open spat with her board, accusing them of witch-hunting.
