The Despite Group and two of its staff have apologised to award-winning investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas for making false claims against him.
A broadcaster of Okay FM, Kwame Nkrumah popularly known as Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie, admitted to the false claims on his show and has since retracted and apologise.
During his show on March 7, 2019 on Okay FM, Nkrumah Tikesie and another staff Kwame Amoah in discussing Anas’ investigative documentaries including “Galamsey Fraud Part One” maligned the journalist, describing him as an extortionist and a bribe taker.
Anas sued the two and their parent company, Despite Company Limited for defamation.
However, an out-of-court settlement had been reached prompting the defendants to retract and apologise to Anas.
In the notice of apology, the trio said: “The said allegations have been found to be false and same should not have been made on our FM station. In this regard, the comments relating to this incorrect statement is most regrettable.”
“The Management of Okay FM, Kwame Nkrumah alias Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie and Kwame Amoh do hereby apologise and unconditionally and unreservedly retract the allegations and comments made against Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his associates during the discussions on the Morning Show.
“Finally, OK FM undertakes not to further publish or reproduce the said allegations and comments made on 7 March 2019 on any of its platforms,” it added.
