Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is expected to embark on a four-day fact-finding jaunt to Ghana at a time it has become crucial for him to build cross-party support for his bid to become Prime Minister.
Corbyn will meet president Nana Akufo-Addo and former president and NDC presidential candidate John Mahama.
One Labour MP said: “It would help matters if the party leader wasn’t going abroad at such a time but what would help most is if he wasn’t Labour leader.”
“People in his own party don’t trust him so what chance is there of people in other parties backing him.”
It is unclear what Mr Corbyn will learn on the trip, according to UK newspaper The Sun.
Corbyn will also confer with CPP stalwart Edmund Delle.
