As part of its Sustainability and Good Corporate Citizenship initiatives, Management of Fidelity Bank in the Ashanti Region are set to hold a blood donation exercise to replenish stocks at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The noble initiative which comes off at the Adum Post Office location in the Central Business District on Friday, 25th October, 2024 enjoys the partnership of EIB Network Ashanti Region comprising Ultimate 106.9 FM and Abusua 96.5 FM.
Speaking on the Ultimate Breakfast Show, Franklin Aboagye Asamoah; branch manager for fidelity bank Adum, drew attention of the public to imagine the bank they would look up to if they ever required blood to save their lives in an emergency situation.
He told host Julius Caesar Anadem, “People respond to Fidelity Bank when we ask them to come save for a rainy day. I am sure everyone in this building either has a bank account or a mobile money wallet. But not everybody is building a blood bank account.”
“We are championing the call for everyone to open a blood bank account with the Komfo Anokye Blood Bank so that in times of need, be it ourselves or our family members, we will produce the card which in banking terms would have been the ATM card for the blood bank to graciously support them at the point of need,” he beckoned.
Commending the bank for the urgency of the exercise, Christian Oppong Mensah, Blood Donor Recruitment Head of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Blood Bank pointed out that the facility’s daily replenishment requirements of 65 to 70 pints of blood places enormous pressure on its stocks.
“The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Blood Bank has become a central facility serving twelve out of the sixteen regions of Ghana. We serve both private and district hospitals aside the cases we are taking care of. As a referral facility, the pressure is huge,” he explained.
Encouraging the public to participate, Mr. Oppong Mensah indicated that aside the contentment of contributing to save lives, blood donation presents a number of health benefits including burning calories; reducing the risk of heart attack and replenishing new blood cells.
An executive with Fidelity Bank Daniel Odarno was elated at the level of enthusiasm from all fourteen branches of Fidelity Bank as the day draws closer.
He extended an invitation to all corporate neighbors from CFAO Ghana; Access Bank, ABSA Bank, Telecel; Toyota Ghana; friends of Fidelity Bank from the Suame Magazine enclave, hawkers and venders at the Adum Post as well as all customers of Fidelity Bank.
To support the drive, Ultimate and Abusua FM have launched a sterling on-air and social media publicity wave across all EIB brands.
Led by EIB Northern Sector Marketing, Brands and Events manager Nana Benyin Anumel and Ashanti Cluster Business Manager Daniel Aggrey; the team is gearing up to deploy on-air personalities and staff for a live outdoor broadcast from the donation venue.
