Former President John Dramani Mahama has leveled serious accusations against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), alleging not only neglect but outright theft and sabotage of Ghana’s railway infrastructure.
Addressing a gathering in Teacher Mante, Ayensuano Constituency, Mahama decried the current state of the nation’s railway system, citing the collapse of the Accra-Nsawam rail service as a prime example of the NPP’s mismanagement.
“I just returned from Nsawam-Adoagyiri, and it is clear that under the NPP’s government, the railway system has completely collapsed,” Mahama stated, contrasting the situation with the operational efficiency of the Accra-Nsawam line during the NDC’s previous administration.
He went further, accusing the NPP of actively dismantling railway infrastructure for personal enrichment.
“They have started removing and selling the railway lines. This is a clear example of how the NPP has used power to enrich themselves at the expense of the country,” Mahama alleged.
Mahama also criticized the NPP for failing to deliver on key campaign promises such as “One Village, One Dam” and “One Million Dollars, One Constituency,” characterizing them as mere electioneering tactics.
“The NPP has caused a lot of destruction, and it’s time for that to end,” Mahama declared, urging Ghanaians to vote for a change in leadership in the upcoming elections.
He underscored the significance of preserving Ghana’s remaining infrastructure and ensuring responsible leadership for future development.
“We need a government that works for the people, not one that seeks power only for its own benefit,” Mahama concluded, appealing to voters to reject the NPP and embrace a vision of accountable governance.
