Weak economy will always give birth to slow economic growth – Nii Amartey

Senior political science lecturer at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Nii Amartie Amartey says a weak economy will always give birth to slow economic growth.

Speaking on Starr Today with Joshua Kodjo Mensah, the lecturer explained that economic hardship leads to reduced economic output decreased economic activities, and high inflation.

“We all know what makes goods and services become expensive to the ordinary Ghanaians” he added.

He continued that a weak economy also cumulates the tendency of increased debts.

“I mean unemployment. Talk about reduced public services and then the fact that investor confidence will be low. So why are you telling Ghanaians to ignore the hazards and go on to vote for you”, he added.

Mr. Amartey then advised politicians to leave voters to read their manifesto and understand it’s contents in their own way and stop feeding their minds with new stories everyday.

“You know, just leave Ghanaians and let them vote according to their feelings and how their pockets exist so that everyone will feel free”.

He further said that if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party tells Ghanaians in his manifesto that he and his team will first cancel the e-levy policy when elected come December 7th adding that Dr. Bawumia himself held the knife to cut its cake and Ghanaians go ahead to follow him then we indeed have a short memory as ex-president John Mahama said some time ago.

“You listen to Bawumia who held the knife to cut that e-levy-designed cake and afterward come back to tell me that it’s the first thing he’s going to cancel. The Ghanaian is wiser now so you people should leave us alone to think through the manifesto presented”, he added.
