Ablekuma South Member of Parliament (MP), Alfred Oko Vanderpuije has declared that living conditions in Ghana are “much, much better” today than they were under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
Speaking on Starr FM’s Morning Show, Morning Star hosted by Nana Aba Anamoah on Monday, November 2, 2026, Vanderpuije said Ghanaians have recognised an improvement in their standard of living compared with two years ago.
“We were all in Ghana, and we knew the challenges of that time under the NPP administration. We knew the struggle that we were all going through with the economy. We knew the rate of inflation. We knew the rate of our cedi climbing every day…and we knew the suffering of the people, the masses, on their daily economic life,” he said.
“But today… everybody knows that things are better today than they were two years ago,” he said.
He outlined the government’s objective of making the country “far much better” in education, health delivery, and broader national development before the next election.
The campaign message in two years, he argued, would be that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had “done far better.”
The former Mayor 9f Accra highlighted the decision to retain the free Senior High School policy, noting that President John Dramani Mahama had referenced it in Moscow as one of the measures helping the country grow.
He further stressed the need for continuity of good policies regardless of which party introduced them.
“We need to build on what is good for the nation…the time has come for us to build on our nation’s development,” he said.
