On Friday, March 21, 2025, Sir Samuel Jonah, Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital and a renowned businessman and statesman, led his company, Mobus Property Development, in commissioning the Col. Ababio Serebour Block for the Ghana Armed Forces Pay Regiment.

The regiment had an urgent need for additional space, prompting the construction of the building less than 10 months ago. During the commissioning ceremony, Colonel Miki Adusei Nkrumah, Commanding Officer of the Pay Regiment, shared how he reached out to corporate entities for support in addressing the regiment’s infrastructure needs. He expressed his gratitude, saying,

“I want to acknowledge the benevolence of the Chairman of Jonah Capital, Sir Samuel Esson Jonah, and the Chief Executive Officer of Mobus Properties Ltd, Mr. Kojo Ansah, for sponsoring this project and bringing the vision of Command to fruition.”

Explaining the significance of the building’s name, Col. Nkrumah described Lt. Col. Ababio Serebour as a transformative leader who played a key role in modernizing the Forces Pay Regiment. Previously, the regiment’s primary role was limited to processing salaries for military personnel. However, under Lt. Col. Serebour’s leadership in 2006, the regiment partnered with financial institutions, leading to the creation of the Remittance Group, which expanded financial services for military personnel.

Reflecting on this achievement, Col. Nkrumah stated:

“As fate would have it, I was the first officer to be posted to the Remittance Group as Officer in Charge, and I am proud to have contributed to its growth. Today, the Remittance Group has become a hub for both military personnel and the corporate world to conduct financial transactions. Naming this office block after Lt. Col. Ababio Serebour is a fitting tribute to his vision and leadership.”

The Chief Executive Officer of Mobus, Mr. Kojo Ansah Mensah, encouraged corporate entities to follow Mobus’ example in supporting national development. Quoting former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, he stated:

“Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”

He further emphasized that corporate success should be measured not only by profits but by the positive impact on communities.

“As we hand over these keys, I challenge every corporate leader here: Look beyond the balance sheet. Invest in projects that outlive us all. To the Forces Pay Regiment—may this space fuel your mission. When you walk through these doors, remember a nation grateful for your sacrifice.”

In his acceptance speech, Lt. Col. Ababio Serebour (Rtd.) expressed deep gratitude for the honor, urging leaders to prioritize service and inspire others to strive for excellence. He commended Col. Miki Adusei Nkrumah for his initiative and thanked Mobus Property Development, Sir Samuel Jonah, and CEO Kojo Ansah Mensah for their generosity.

The colorful ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officers of the Ghana Armed Forces, including the Controller of Defence Finance, Brigadier General Salifu Osumanu, along with members of the clergy, Islamic leaders, and personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces Pay Regiment.
