The Ministry of Education has assured parents and candidates that the 2025 school placement exercise will be conducted strictly on merit, with no room for favoritism or backdoor deals.
In a statement on Wednesday, August 27, the Ministry noted that placements will be determined solely by students’ performance in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
They explained that the system is designed to reward hard work and protect the integrity of the process, adding that the Ministry has zero tolerance for fraud or extortion.
“Following the release of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results, the Ministry of Education is providing a comprehensive update on the school placement exercise for all successful candidates. The Ministry assures all candidates and their families that the process will be fair, transparent, and strictly merit-based, ensuring every student has the opportunity to pursue their educational goals without discrimination,” the statement stressed.
As part of the roadmap, students will have the opportunity to confirm their school choices online before final placement is released on September 17, 2025. First-year students are expected to report to their assigned schools between October 18 and 20.
The Ministry urged the public to be vigilant and report any attempts by individuals to exploit the process for personal gain, warning that offenders will face the law.
“The Ministry is ready for the placement process and asks candidates and the public to remain calm. We are committed to making this a smooth and successful transition for all,” the statement added.
