Ghana has strongly condemned what it describes as the “inhumane and traumatic” treatment of Ghanaian nationals by Israeli authorities at the Ben Gurion International Airport.
In a statement on Wednesday, December 10, the government revealed that seven Ghanaian travellers were detained without justifiable cause on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
The group included four members of a Ghanaian parliamentary delegation attending the Annual International Cybersecurity Conference in Tel Aviv.
According to the statement, the detained parliamentarians were only freed after “more than five hours of strenuous diplomatic intervention,” while the remaining three travellers were deported to Ghana on the next available flight.
The government said it had observed with “great concern” what it described as the deliberate targeting of Ghanaian travellers, describing the actions of Israeli authorities as “extremely provocative, unacceptable and inconsistent with our friendly historical relations.”
Ghana further stressed that it has maintained cordial relations with Israel for over six decades, marked by significant volumes of travel between citizens of both countries, and warned that such conduct undermines that relationship.
