Atick Yakubu, member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, has cautioned the NDC, urging the party to take heed of a more politically aware electorate.
Speaking on GHToday with host Joshua Kodjo Mensah on Thursday, February 5, Yakubu reflected on past mistakes by the NPP while in government.
He noted that the party had erred by assuming it could impose its views on Ghanaians. “The mistake we made in government was that we thought that we would impose our view on Ghanaians. And Ghanaians showed us ‘shege’. If you guys don’t take care, they will show you ‘shege’. They will,” Yakubu said.
Highlighting the changes in voter behaviour since 2016, he observed that the electorate has become more alert and informed.

“The Ghanaians of 2016… You guys thought they had short memories are not the Ghanaians of 2024 now, people are wild, and are waking up. Literacy rate has really gone up. People are more educated now,” he advised the NDC.
