The Ghana Police Service in Koforidua has arrested several 13 suspected prostitutes including 12 Nigerians, together with a landlord, and bouncer over human trafficking, assault, operating a brothel, allowing a minor to engage in prostitution, and trading in prostitution.

The arrests followed a complaint lodged on Thursday, February 6, 2026, by a victim, Godwill, a 30-year-old Nigerian national and commercial sex worker, residing at Nsukwao in Koforidua.

According to the Municipal Police Commander, Ransford Nsiah, the complainant reported that she had been trafficked from Nigeria to Ghana by her alleged mistress, Christabel Simon Monday, also a Nigerian national, for the purpose of prostitution.

She told Police that she was required to make a daily sales target of GHS400 from prostitution activities. On the day of the incident, she was only able to raise GHS250, which her mistress and her boyfriend, Simon Kwarteng, allegedly refused to accept.

The complainant further alleged that she was physically assaulted by the two suspects over her inability to meet the target.

Following the complaint, Police commenced investigations and moved to Dabiasem, a suburb of New Juaben, where suspect, Christabel Simon Monday, was arrested.

During the operation, Police uncovered a brothel facility allegedly operated by Omari Gyamfi, landlord.

At the premises, Police found twelve additional Nigerian females, including a 15-year-old minor, residing and engaging in prostitution.

Police retrieved quantities of unused condoms.

The minor has since been separated for protection, and arrangements are being made in collaboration with relevant social welfare agencies.

The suspects are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court once investigations are completed.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to combating human trafficking, protecting children and other vulnerable persons, and enforcing the laws of Ghana without fear or favour.

The Police have also urged the public to report suspected cases of human trafficking, child abuse, and related criminal activities to the nearest Police station.
