The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has dismissed as false social media claims alleging that the Minister sponsored individuals with business class tickets to Germany ahead of the Black Stars’ international friendly matches.
In a statement dated Sunday, March 29, 2026, the Ministry clarified that the claims circulating in a viral video are entirely untrue and have no basis in fact.
“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that these claims are false and without any basis,” the statement said.
According to the Ministry, the individuals seen in the video were not associated with the Minister in any official capacity.
It explained that they were Ghanaians he briefly encountered in the departure tunnel at the airport during his travel.
The Ministry further clarified that the Minister travelled alone on official duty to engage with the Black Stars team and technical staff ahead of their friendly matches, with no accompanying delegation or staff.
“The Minister travelled alone on an official assignment to engage the Black Stars team and technical staff ahead of their international friendly match. No staff of the Ministry or any delegation accompanied him on this trip,” it noted.
It also categorically denied any claims of financial support or sponsorship for individuals or fans.
“No individual was sponsored, facilitated, or upgraded by the Minister or the Ministry,” the statement emphasized.
The Ministry stressed that no public funds, whether from its budget or external sponsorships, were used to support travel or fan attendance for the matches.
It urged the public to disregard the misleading claims and reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and transparency in the management of public resources.
