IMANI Africa President Franklin Cudjoe has said public concerns over President John Dramani Mahama using his brother private jet could have been avoided with early transparency from the presidency.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Thursday, April 9, 2026, Cudjoe argued that Ghanaians would have better understood the decision if clear reasons had been provided from the outset.
“I think that if they declared from the onset… the presidential jet has issues… Ghanaians would have understood,” he said.
According to him, explaining the cost implications of hiring alternative aircraft could have justified the choice, especially if it proved more economical.
“If I hire a plane from another company and it costs 10 million… my brother is not going to charge me but he wants me to for fuel,” he added.
Cudjoe stressed that lack of communication often fuels perceptions of conflict of interest, noting that “people will naturally ask questions… but if the reasoning is explained, many will accept it.”
