The Accra Regional Police Command has officially dismissed media reports suggesting that inmates who escaped from the Adabraka District Police custody are linked to the murder of Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi’s father-in-law.
The Police in a press release issued on April 27, 2026, strongly condemned the allegations, describing them as inaccurate.
According to the Police, the individuals who escaped were never detained at the Adabraka Police Station in connection with the high-profile murder case, nor are they related to that specific incident.
The statement follows an incident on April 26, 2026, in which six inmates escaped from police custody.
The Police reported significant progress in their recovery efforts, including the arrest of three out of the six escapees, who have already been returned to custody following “swift Police action.”
The statement continued that authorities have also intensified a manhunt to track down and arrest the remaining three suspects.
The Police have also launched a full-scale investigation to determine the exact circumstances that allowed the inmates to escape from the Adabraka District Police Station.
The Police Command has also assured the general public of their unwavering commitment to law and order.
They also have urged anyone with credible information regarding the whereabouts of the remaining three escapees to report immediately to the nearest police station.
