The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has donated 400 foldable beds to the Police Counter Terrorism Enactment and Concentration Camp (CTECC) at Huhunya in the Eastern Region.
The donation is aimed at improving accommodation and welfare conditions for police recruits currently undergoing training at the facility.
The Huhunya centre, traditionally used for the training of senior police officers, is for the first time hosting recruits undergoing training, marking an expansion of its role as a police training facility.
Speaking during a visit to the centre, the Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey expressed excitement about the development and commended the Ghana Police Service for enhancing its training to boost capacity and skills of new recruits to meet evolving sophisticated high risk crimes emerging in the sub -region.
She said the donation was intended to complement efforts by the commander and instructors to provide the trainees with the necessary support and a conducive environment for their training.
“The nation is investing so much into your training and your well-being, and we believe that you are all coming out as very well-trained men and women,” she told the recruits.
The Regional Minister urged the trainees to take good care of themselves and make effective use of the facilities provided for their training.
She also assured the trainees and management of the centre of her continued support, indicating that she would return to monitor their progress and welfare.

The commander and instructor at the centre welcomed the development, describing the commencement of recruit training at Huhunya as a significant milestone.
According to them, the facility was originally intended for senior officers but has now expanded its mandate to accommodate recruit training.
The 400-bed donation is expected to ease accommodation challenges and improve the welfare of recruits drawn from across the country undergoing training at the centre.
