A firefighter has collapsed after inhaling smoke while battling a late-night fire at a warehouse at Tamale Station in Techiman in the Bono East Region.
The firefighter was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital for medical attention after collapsing during the firefighting operation.
According to the statement by the Ghana National Fire Service, “There was a fire outbreak at a warehouse at Tamale Station, Techiman” late Thursday night.
The warehouse stored “items including tyres and other motor bike parts,” the statement said.
The fire call was received at 2129 hours, with the first appliance from Nkoranza arriving at 2130 hours.

The Regional Commander, ACFO I Adobea, was at the scene to take operational command as fire appliances from Techiman and Nkoranza responded to the incident.

GNFS further indicated that “A zen filling station Nearby was Salvaged” during the operation, preventing the fire from spreading to the facility.
The fire is now under control, although appliances from Techiman and Nkoranza remain at the scene.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage to the warehouse were not immediately established.
