Newly elected National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Abanga Yakubu Fusani, has signalled the start of mobilisation for a peaceful demonstration under the banner “Yɛgye Yɛ Sika Demo… Loading,” demanding accountability, jobs and economic relief from the government.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, Fusani, who was elected to the position at the party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi earlier this month, called on Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Sports Minister Kofi Adams to “bring our money.”
He specifically questioned why cocoa farmers are being paid GH¢2,600 per bag instead of the GH¢3,100 figure previously referenced, amid rising living costs.
“Enough is Enough! Okudzeto Ablakwa, bring our money! Sports Minister Kofi Adams, bring our money! Cocoa farmers demand answers: why GH¢2,600 instead of GH¢3,100?” Fusani wrote.
He linked the issue to broader economic pressures, including higher fuel prices, students struggling to pay hostel fees, businesses short of operating capital, and the introduction of a 20% VAT on digital services that he said is burdening those who rely on social media for work and income.
The youth leader also questioned the government’s delivery on its promised 24-hour economy, asking: “Where is the promised 24-hour economy: one job, three shifts, three people? Where are the jobs?”
He argued that celebrated macroeconomic indicators appear “artificial” while ordinary Ghanaians’ pockets remain empty.
Fusani framed the planned action as a peaceful mobilisation focused on accountability for public funds, job creation and relief measures.
“We are mobilising for a peaceful demonstration to demand accountability, jobs and relief. Arrests cannot silence these questions or divert attention from demands to account for public funds,” he stated, ending with the repeated refrain “Enough is Enough!” and the hashtag-style call “y3gyey3Sika Demo…loading!”
The post comes just weeks after Fusani’s election as National Youth Organiser, a role in which he has publicly pledged to mobilise young voters and strengthen the NPP’s youth structures ahead of the 2028 elections.
Official data from the Ghana Cocoa Board indicates the current producer price for the 2026/2027 season stands at GH¢2,650 per 64-kilogramme bag (approximately GH¢42,400 per tonne), set at just over 71% of the realised FOB value.
No specific date or route for the demonstration has been announced.
