Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has called for closer collaboration across all 13 agencies under her ministry, emphasising that the creative sector thrives when its different domains work together. She made the remarks during her appearance on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

“I’ve been assuring them that the best way for all of us is not to work in silos. We have to work together. Art is a collaborative space, you see,” the Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ketu South said, highlighting the importance of coordination across sectors such as gastronomy, tourism, fashion, music, theatre, and dance.

While acknowledging that some agencies are more visible than others, Minister Gomashie praised the efforts being made behind the scenes.

“It may seem as if GTA is the one probably working harder than the others, but I’m trying to say that they are not the only ones working hard. All the agencies are trying their bit.”

She noted the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has gained public visibility due to its legal authority under the Tourism Act 2011, Act 817, to manage tourism levy funds, but stressed that other agencies such as the Folklore Board, the Bureau of Ghana Languages, and the National Theatre are also making significant contributions.

“The Folklore Board is not seen and heard often in public, but they are the ones who work on the listing of sector heritage, my people call it a kente, on the UNESCO heritage list. Take the Bureau of Ghana Languages, for example. You don’t hear of them much, but coming Tuesday, they’re going to have a dialogue on how to preserve and promote our Ghanaian languages. They are working very hard.”

The Minister also commended the leadership at the National Theatre for recent improvements, even prior to its official renovation.

“Henry has really blown my mind. He’s so on the ball and clients have started noticing and commenting to me about the small changes he’s making at the National Theatre. Even before the renovation started, he started doing some fantastic work. The workers are happy, they are working together.”

The Ketu South MP concluded by reiterating that a collaborative approach will help strengthen the sector and ensure that all agencies can maximise their impact on Ghana’s cultural and creative industries.
