The Federation of Ghana Medical Students’ Associations (FGMSA) and affected graduating medical and dental students have initiated legal action over the Medical and Dental Council’s (MDC) Common Registration Examination (CRE).
In a press statement dated October 20, 2026, the FGMSA said the legal action concerns the examination and its implications for graduating medical and dental students approaching professional qualification and registration.
The federation said the action reflects concerns about the implementation of the examination and its impact on affected students.
However, it did not disclose details of the legal action or specify the particular concerns raised against the examination.
The FGMSA reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement, fairness, due process and the protection of students’ legitimate interests within Ghana’s medical and dental education system.
With the matter now before the court, the federation said it would respect the judicial process and refrain from commenting on issues that could prejudice the proceedings.
It also urged the public, stakeholders and the media to allow the legal process to proceed without speculation.
The FGMSA said it would communicate further developments through its official channels when appropriate.
The Common Registration Examination is administered by the Medical and Dental Council as part of the process for medical and dental practitioners seeking professional registration in Ghana.
