The poor water supply situation at the Ho Central prison has received a significant improvement following the commissioning of a mechanized borehole sponsored by the Member of Parliament for Afadjato South, Angela Alorwu-Tay.
According to the Volta Regional Commander of the prison service, Deputy Director, Mr. Raphael Kwesi Tuekpe, the prison over the years suffered water shortages due to the frequent closure of the pipelines by the Ghana Water Company.
He added that, upon an appeal to the office of the MP, she opted to support them renovate and mechanize an old borehole to enhance regular supply of water for both inmates and officers at the prison.

Mr. Tuekpe indicated further that the MP has previously supported the prison in different ways including the donation of essential medical items and drugs to the infirmary at prison.
The Afadjato South MP during the official commissioning of the borehole and also medical laboratory revealed that she was motivated to support the prison as a result of the challenges she observed during a visit to the facility during the Covid-19 pandemic period.

She stated that instead of throwing a party for her 50th birthday, she opted to raise funds to provide drugs and medical laboratory equipment to support the infirmary at the prison to improve basic healthcare delivery.
She urged the management and staff of the prison to take proper care of the medical equipment to ensure it lasts longer.
