The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has issued a stern warning to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, over what he describes as poor security arrangements ahead of the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
Speaking during the NPP Delegates Conference and official campaign launch for the party’s parliamentary candidate Solomon Asumadu, Henry Nana Boakye expressed concern over the rising insecurity under the current IGP.
He cited recent violent incidents during the Ablekuma North by-election as an example and cautioned that the NPP would not allow such a situation to repeat itself in Akwatia that the party will find means to protect themselves.
Nana B also called on party members and sympathizers in Akwatia to unite and rally behind their candidate, Solomon Asumadu, to retain the seat in honour of the late MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi.
Also addressing the gathering, the Eastern Regional NPP Chairman, Jeff Konadu Addo, encouraged supporters to come out in their numbers and vote peacefully on election day to secure victory for the party.
The Akwatia by-election is scheduled for September 2, 2025, following the sudden passing of the sitting MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi.
