Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu, alias Bright Alan Yeboah, one of the six persons who was convicted and sentenced to death for attempting to over throw government in the high treason case has been released on bail after satisfying his GHc2.5 million bail conditions.

On November 10, 2025, a three-member of the High Court in Accra granted his request for bail pending an appeal against his conviction and subsequent sentence.

He was sentenced to death together with five others including a military officer after the High Court found the guilty for high treason.

The bail was granted on Monday November 10, 2025 after hearing submissions from both the Prosecution and the lawyers of the convict Applicant.

In addition to the bail sum after the Court held that he had demonstrated exceptional circumstances, he was to produce two sureties one of whom should be justified with landed property.

The panel chaired by Justice John Eugene Nyante Nyadu with Justices Ruby Aryeetey and Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie, the (convict) applicant was to surrender his passport to the registrar of the court pending the final determination of the appeal.

The Court has ordered that he be placed on stop list by the police and can only travel out of the jurisdiction with the express permission of the court.

The Convict (applicant), the Court said has six months to prepare the records of Appeal and transmit same to the Supreme Court not later than April 9, 2026.

The Court warned that, “Any breach of these conditions can resolve in the revocation of the bail,” while the “Republic may apply for the revocation of the bail if condition (above) is not complied with by the third convict appellant applicant.

The decision of the Court was after lawyers of the Applicant led by Komivi Dzotsi and Prosecution led by Hilda Craig, a Principal State Attorney advanced their respective arguments.

According to EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, Allan Debrah satisfied his bail conditions on Thursday and has also been released from the prison on Friday, November 21, 2025.
