The High Court in Accra has directed the  National Security to investigate the source of “unsanctioned” audio recordings of Court proceedings of  Thursday, June 13, 2024, sitting.

This was after, Deputy Attorney General, Alfred Atuah-Yeboah brought to the attention of the Court audio recordings in circulation on social media.

Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe upon being informed retired into chambers and invitees the parties along.

The prosecution was represented by the two deputy Attorney General – Alfred Tuah-Yeboah and Ms. Diana Asonaba Dapaah and the Director of Public Prosecution Mrs Yvonne Attakora Obuobisa.

The Defense lawyers were represented by Dr Abdul Basit Aziz Bamba and Thaddeus Sory represented the accused.

Subsequently, Richard Jakpa and Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the two accused, were invited into chambers.

Back from chambers, Thaddeus Sory requested a brief meeting with the Attorney General, (AG), Godfred Yeboah Dame who had then arrived.

Justice Asare-Botwe, a Justice of the Court of Appeal, sitting as an additional High Court judge, subsequently directed that National Security investigate the source of the “unsanctioned” recordings.

The Court also cautioned that should the act continue, the Court would be forced to conduct the proceedings in-camera.

EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah is reporting that currently, the Director of Public Prosecution is subjecting Richard Jakpa to scrutiny while Godfred Yeboah Dane, the AG, and his two deputies – Ms. Diana Asonaba Dapaah and Alfred Tuah-Yeboah look on.

Dr. Ato Forson, the current minority leader in parliament, and businessman Richard Jakpa have been accused of willfully causing financial loss to the republic to the tune of 2.37 million euros through the purchase of ambulances.

They have pleaded not guilty and are standing trial.
