Black Queens Coach Mercy Tagoe Quarcoo has described as a blessing in disguise CAF’s decision to postpone next month’s 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of nations qualifiers.
The Queens were billed to play sworn rivals the Super Falcons of Nigeria next month and were due to start camping only for CAF to announce that the matches have been pushed to October.
According to a statement released by CAF’s Women’s Football Organizing Committee, the games have been postponed in line with the postponement of the Men’s World Cup Qualifiers from June to September this year. The Committee sighted the pitch conditions for some African Stadiums and the Covid-19 restrictions as reasons for the postponement.
The 1st round will now take place in the FIFA window of 18-26 October and the 2nd round will take place in the FIFA window of February 14-23, 2022.
“With this postponement, we will have enough time to prepare very well because we are playing against a top notch side like Nigeria ”
