AbdulSalam Mohammed Daaru, former secretary to the late Ayawaso East Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, has expressed concern over divisions within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the constituency level.
Speaking on The Verdict with Isaac Addae on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Daaru said much will depend on the leadership of Hon. Baba Jamal in uniting different factions of the party. “A lot at this stage would depend on his leadership, on how he can be able to bring all different parts of the community and the party together so that we can be able to advance the election come 3rd of March,” he said.

Daaru noted that internal divisions are partly due to candidates adopting a “do or die” approach to politics, where some believe that if they do not win, nobody should. “Of course, that is why we’ve seen this level of issues that today has become a topic… we have experienced some of these instances within the Ayawaso East constituency,” he added.
He urged party members to focus on cohesion and mobilisation to ensure the NDC remains strong at the constituency level. “What is the greatest challenge for us now is how we can mobilise ourselves together as a great party at the constituency level to see how best we can be able to move forward,” Daaru said.
