President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria.
Baba Sadiq replaces Baba Jamal, who was recalled following his removal after the NDC Ayawaso East primaries, where he sought to lead the party in Parliament for the Ayawaso East Constituency.
The nomination places the creative industry entrepreneur and politician at the helm of Ghana’s diplomatic mission in Abuja, pending the completion of the required accreditation processes.
His appointment signals a blend of political and creative sector experience at a time when Ghana and Nigeria continue to deepen cooperation in trade, security and regional integration within West Africa.
In brief remarks congratulating him on the nomination, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed confidence in his ability to represent Ghana effectively and inspire young people across the continent.
He said he expects him to uphold Ghana’s interests and further strengthen diplomatic and bilateral ties between Accra and Abuja.
