The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has charged leadership of Parliament to ensure the report of the Privileges Committee on three absentee MPs is brought to the plenary for their fate to be determined.
Dome Kwabenya MP, Sara Adwoa Safo, Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong and Ayawaso Central MP, Henry Quartey have had their fate hanging since last year after they were referred to the privileges committee for absenting themselves for 15 days with permission.
The speaker had ruled the entire house would have to determine the fate of the trio rather than the decision by the Majority members of the Committee to hang only Adwoa Safo.
Minority MPs led by North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the floor questioned why they had been marked absent after their boycott on Tuesday in solidarity with Assin North MP Gyakye Quayson.
Ablakwa argued such a move could lead to their seats being declared vacant.
Deputy Minority Whip, Ibrahim Ahmed and Bodi MP, Sampson Ahi and Minority Chief Whip, Governs Kwame Agbodza all made the case for the boycott to be officially captured rather than the absent registered against the names of the NDC MPs.
The Majority led by Minister for local government and MP for Okere Daniel Botwe however opposed such a request.
According to him, since the Minority failed to show up on the floor, they were absent.
Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin in giving his ruling said the staff of Parliament were right in marking the NDC MPs absent.
Mr. Alban Bagbin consequently asked the Minority to write officially to him seeking for permission to boycott sittings on such court days.
The speaker used the chance to demand action on the three absentee MPs.
