President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed that the Dawhenya–Afienya–Dodowa road, a flagship project under his government’s ‘Big Push’ infrastructure agenda, is slated for completion within 24 months, with the contractor promising to finish ahead of schedule.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the 24.8km main corridor and 3km of selected town roads, President Mahama expressed confidence in Oswal Investment Limited, describing the firm as one of Ghana’s best local contractors.
“On this road, as I said, is Oswal Investment Limited, and I can say with my hand on my heart that he is one of our best local contractors. The good thing is he works with speed but doesn’t compromise quality, and so I want to assure the people of Dodowa-Afienya-Dawhenya, one of the best Ghanaian contractors, is doing your road.
We have given him 24 months to finish, but he has whispered in my ears that he will do it in less than 24 months, and I want to assure him that payment will not be a problem,” the President said.
The project, launched on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, forms part of a broader effort to address Ghana’s infrastructure deficit, particularly in the road sector.
President Mahama reiterated that the government is committed to timely delivery, quality construction, and ensuring the people of Greater Accra benefit from a reliable and modern road network.
The initiative aligns with the government’s larger vision of accelerated development under the Big Push programme, for which GH¢13.85 billion has been allocated.
