Dr. Randy Abbey, Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, has confirmed that Ghana’s senior national team will participate in a four-nation international tournament in June this year.
After a challenging 2024, the Black Stars started 2025 on a strong note with consecutive victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
These wins have taken Ghana to the top of Group I with 15 points.
According to the FIFA calendar, the team’s next competitive fixture is scheduled for September.
However, Dr. Abbey revealed that the team might play friendly matches in June. He believes this would provide a valuable opportunity for the technical team to continue rebuilding with the players.
“Fortunately, the technical team and management will have the opportunity to further work on the team because, in June, we don’t have qualifiers, so we will be playing a four-nation friendly in England”.
“And I am sure that it will be an opportunity for the coaches to do some further work on the team,” he told 3Sports.
“We are hoping that some of the players who are injured will also be back and will be able to get an opportunity to play at least two games before the September matches,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will take on Chad and Mali in the round of the qualifiers.
