The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Appeal Board has officially awarded the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title to Morocco following a ruling against Senegal.
The decision comes after the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football filed an appeal regarding the outcome and events of the AFCON final held in Morocco.
CAF determined that Senegal forfeited the match under Article 84 of the tournament regulations, resulting in a 3–0 victory for Morocco.
The Appeal Board upheld Morocco’s protest, overturning the earlier decision by the CAF Disciplinary Board, and found that Senegal had violated Article 82 of the AFCON rules.
“The appeal lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football is admissible and upheld. The Senegal team is declared to have forfeited the match, with the result recorded as 3–0 in favour of Morocco,” CAF said in a statement.
In response, the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football rejected the ruling, calling it unfair and unacceptable.
The governing body confirmed it will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to challenge the decision and seek justice at the highest level of sports arbitration.
The ruling sets the stage for a possible legal battle that could ultimately determine the official outcome of the 2025 AFCON, keeping fans and stakeholders on edge.
