The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has intensified its festive-season operations, conducting targeted raids across the Eastern and Greater Accra Regions to dismantle drug dens and safeguard communities.
Codenamed “Operation White Ember,” the intelligence-led campaign targeted drug hubs from Mamfe and Tutu in the Eastern Region to Madina Redco Flats, Zongo Junction, and the railway slums near Airport City in Accra.

Similar operations were carried out on Boxing Day in Tema Community 1 and Teshie-Nungua, resulting in dozens of arrests and the seizure of narcotics with assistance from NACOC’s K9 units.
Patrols were also conducted at shopping malls and beaches across the capital to ensure public spaces remain safe during the holiday season.

NACOC, in a statement, stressed that beyond arrests, the operations have a critical human dimension.
The drugs seized—including ecstasy, methamphetamine, and cannabis-laced alcohol—represent “thousands of lives saved from the brink of addiction” this December.

During the raids, officers engaged community members, conducting on-site public education on the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on neighborhood safety. In total, 72 suspects were arrested during the festive-season crackdown.

NACOC affirmed that the operations will continue in the coming weeks to ensure a sustained safe environment for all Ghanaians, particularly during the holiday period.
