Africa’s first male child development activist, Mrs Ethel Adjorlolo Marfo, was on Saturday honoured at the 28th edition of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Awards ceremony.

She received the CIMG President’s Special Award. In all about 40 institutions were honoured in various categories.

A citation presented to Mrs. Marfo stated, “You are a multi- passionate social entrepreneur who is proudly Africa’s First Male Child Development Activist.

“You founded Junior Shapers Africa (JSA), a social enterprise that seeks to champion the proper upbringing of the boy child and aspire them to become responsible men and supporters of the empowered modern African woman.’’

A hearty Mrs. Marfo told Starrfmonline.com that she was thankful to CIMG for recognizing her efforts in raising responsible boys to build stronger homes and communities for a better Africa.

“I am concerned about the (Social, Emotional, Spiritual) needs of the boy child who no one is paying attention to. The resultant effects is the upsurge in dysfunctional men in our society who are frustrating hardworking women.

“There are a lot of social interventions for the girl child but none for the boy child. And we have forgotten that the boy child also has challenges which must be addressed in his formative years,” she noted.

She added: “Again, I was challenged by the fatherhood crises that is on the increase. I am inspired to do more and I am looking forward to impacting more boys across Ghana and our continent with our effective behaviour shaping programs at JSA.”

About 41 institutions were honoured by CIMG at the awards night held on Saturday.
