The Awutu Ofaakor Circuit Court has remanded 12 individuals posing as National Security officers and two notorious landguards in connection with the unlawful demolition of more than 60 buildings under construction at Gomoa Akoti in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The case is before Her Honour Nana Asantewaa Attakorah.
The Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command arrested the suspects for allegedly carrying out the demolitions without legal authority.
They face four charges, including conspiracy to commit crime, use of force and violence to intimidate lawful landowners, causing fear and panic, and obstructing developers from working on their properties.
The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to reappear in court on March 4, 2026.
Victims present in court expressed relief over the arrests. Some traditional authorities of Gomoa Akoti have also called on law enforcement to intensify efforts to remove all landguards operating in the area.
