New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Okaikoi Central Patrick Yaw Boamah has provided hot meals for scores of children in his constituency in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown.
According to the deputy water and sanitation minister, the move is to ease the pressure on households whose means of income have been curtailed as a result of the lockdown. Mr Boamah went around the constituency with packages of hot meals, bags of rice, hand sanitizers among others.
Speaking to the media, the MP disclosed the move is part of several initiatives aimed at protecting his constituents from the deadly coronavirus.
“I asked some pastors, assembly members and leaders of some political parties in the constituency to join me feed about 1,000 children in the constituency. So as a team we’ve split ourselves into groups across the constituency. This is not the first time. We have provided sanitizers and Veronica buckets that I cannot even quantify to churches and institutions as well.”
The MP urged people with the means to extend helping hands to the poor in these difficult moments.
“This is the time to sacrifice and show our humanity. When we help each other we promote peaceful coexistence in the country.” He stated.
Accra, Kasoa, Tema and Kumasi have been under lockdown for almost 2 weeks now as a measure to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Patrick Boamah further appealed to his constituents and the public, in general, to adhere strictly to measures announced by President Akufo-Addo to defeat the pandemic.
